Sam Greenwood Pockets €1 Million at MILLIONS Barcelona
The partypoker Live MILLIONS Grand Final is taking place at the Casino Barcelona. It is an event that marks the end of the inaugural partypoker Live season, and one that has over €10 million in guaranteed prizepools. Germany's Andreas Eiler won the first €25k SHR, Belgium's David Kitai won the second, and now Canadian poker pro Sam Greenwood has won the €51k SHR!
The €51,000 buy-in event saw a total of 57 entries participating, which took the €2 million prizepool up to €2,764,500, with the top 7 set to be paid a minimum cash prize of €110,000. Greenwood started the final day with one of the shortest stacks when the final table began. At one point, he was just one big blind away from elimination, but made a fantastic comeback to take down the title and win €1,000,000 for first-place.
The prize is worth around $1.22 million and this became Greenwood's highest career live cash, beating $1 million he won at another partypoker Live event in November last year and $1,023,701 he won in an EPT Barcelona event in 2016. With this win, his career live poker earnings have also crossed the $9 million mark.
A lot of notable high roller players were present at the event and on the final table, and Greenwood finally reached heads up against Spain's Sergio Aido, who has cashed over $7 million in live tournament poker. Aido had the lead going into heads up but Greenwood made a comeback and ultimately, his A-pair beat Aido's 10-pair to take home the title and the million-dollar prize!
