Shashank Jain strikes deal to win Elite on Spartan
The Elite INR 18 Lakh GTD.
The name says it all. This one is only for the elite group of poker players and enthusiasts, who consider themselves skilled and are willing to pony up the steep buy-in of INR 11,000 per entry. Yesterday was another edition of this tournament on Spartan Poker, played every Friday at 7:30pm, and we witnessed another massive field.
A total of 216 entries joined the tournament to beat the guarantee and create a new prize pool of INR 21.6 Lakh, which was eventually distributed among the top 20 positions with a minimum cash of INR 28,944. At the end of the night, it was the popular face Shashank Jain who emerged victorious, taking away the top prize after striking a deal in heads-up.
Of course, there are massive pay jumps in such tournaments and Jain would've known that, playing as 'westworld' on Spartan Poker. He was up against 'chiranjilalchacha' in heads-up and the both had almost similar chip stacks at the time of the deal, which saw Jain winning INR 4,49,142 and his opponent taking away the runner-up prize of INR 4,21,338.
If you actively follow updates from the Indian poker community, you would've definitely heard of Shashank Jain. His achievements aren't restricted to the virtual felts as he has over $200k in live earnings too, with a career-best cash of $43k he earned for finishing 6th in a tournament at the Deep Stack Extravaganza III in Las Vegas in 2015.
Yesterday's tournament saw Jain outlasting many known names to win the title and some of them finishing in the money included Jayjit Ray (6th), Triple Bubble runner-up Rohit Mishra (11th), Sagar Choudhury (12th), Manoj Pentakota (18th), Eka Vedantham (19th) and others.
Jain would be very pleased with this victory, getting one on Spartan after quite a while. Now, he will be looking to take the momentum into the weekend and possibly take down a few more in the days to come. Until then, keep reading GutshotMagazine.com.
