Short Deck Poker to be introduced at APT Vietnam
Short Deck Poker is slowly taking over as an extremely popular format of the game we all love so much. High-stakes pros from all over the world are preferring to play the Short Deck format over traditional hold'em these days, and a lot of professional leagues are adopting this format.
Recently, PokerStars and America's Cardroom also added 6-Plus Hold'em to their client, which is nothing but Short Deck itself. We're expecting many of the other top online poker rooms to also introduce this format, while live tournaments are also seeing short deck poker making a debut around the world.
The latest to follow the trend is the Asian Poker Tour (APT) that will now be introducing the short deck format in all of their live stops, starting with the 2018 APT Vietnam series that is scheduled between 5 and 11 October at the Pro Poker Club in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
Currently, the WPT Vietnam series is taking place and this will immediately be followed by the APT Vietnam series at the same venue. For those who don't know about the Short Deck poker format, let us explain it to you in short.
Unlike the traditional deck of 52 cards, this game will have only 36 cards with all twos, threes, fours and fives being stripped off from the deck. Of course, the change in deck brings about a slight difference in hand rankings. Take a look:
- Royal Flush
- Straight Flush
- Full House
- Two pair
- High card
The APT Vietnam Short Deck Event has been scheduled for 11th October, which is the final day of the series and this will have a buy-in of VND 7,700,000. We're expecting a healthy participation for this debut tournament and you can get all updates on the same here at GutshotMagazine.com.
