Siddharth Mundada gets himself another Destiny title
Have you ever done something and thought, "Maybe it's just my destiny?" Well, the Destiny tournament series on The Spartan Poker gives you a chance to write your own destiny over the course of a few weeks. If you do manage to script your destiny right, you land yourself a ticket to play poker at one of the most prestigious poker festivals in Europe.
The Destiny tournament takes place every Wednesday at 7:30pm IST, and at the end of 10 weeks, the 10 winners take part in the Destiny SnG Finale, where one winner wins the package trip to Europe. Yesterday was another Destiny tournament and it was shipped by regular online player, Siddharth Mundada aka 'Sidddhu'.
It was a long grind for all those who made it to the end, with the tournament lasting 10 hours and 12 minutes, finishing in Level #62, with the blinds at 44,000/88,000 - 8,800, and the sun probably rising at that time in India. It was another successful tournament on Spartan, with the INR 5,500 buy-in tournament seeing 477 entries, which beat the INR 20 lakh guarantee and created a new prize pool of INR 23.85 lakh.
This allowed the top 40 players to be paid out a minimum of INR 14,310 and Mundada picked up the biggest prize of all - INR 6,32,025. From his winnings, INR 1 lakh will be deducted as a buy-in to the Destiny SnG finale which takes place in a couple of weeks from now, with two Destiny winners still to be crowned.
In the final hand, Mundada went all-in pre-flop with 9h As. He had a big chip lead over 'JesusOnAcid' and was trying to push on the advantage. JesusOnAcid called with 4c Ah. Both hit a pair of queens on the board that opened Jh 3c Qh 5c Qc, and Mundada took down the title with a high kicker (9), while his opponent had to settle for the runners-up prize of INR 3,93,525.
Other regulars that reached the final table include Apratim Sharma aka '[email protected]' and Mayank Jaggi aka 'AlwayslimpAA', who finished 6th and 8th respectively. Don't forget that this is Mundada's second Destiny victory, after having shipped the tournament in December last year too. Maybe it is his destiny to win the package trip after all...
We caught up with Mundada after the tournament win. He said, "It's always good to ship a tourney like this one especially when you are facing a downswing in poker. The past three months were very frustrating for me as I made a bunch of final tables but couldn't capitalize on them. I would love to dedicate this victory to my family especially my mother who let me follow my passion and allowed me to play poker. The key hand in the event was when I called of a 1.5x pot size raise on the river with middle pair and won a big pot."
