The December 2018 edition of the cash-rich Spartan Super Series (SSS) is underway since 12th December with 11 tournaments concluding on the first couple of days. On Day 3, five more tournaments were played where Dilmeet Munjal, Aman Bhadu and Arjanveer Chadha turned out to be among the winners.
Apart from high-value tournaments, there is also the SSS Leaderboard for the tournament regulars on The Spartan Poker, where INR 5 lakh is waiting to be won. Currently, 'Screwdriver45' has managed to maintain his lead at the top of the SSS Leaderboard, courtesy the two titles he won on the opening day.
SSS Day 3 Roundup:
SSS Event #12 INR 125k GTD
INR 440 was the buy-in associated with the first tournament of SSS Day 2. A field of 161 entries registered to the tournament and from them, the top 21 players were paid out a min-cash of INR 1,562. Now only one can go through as champion and yesterday, it was Dilmeet Singh Munjal aka 'dilmeet' who shipped the tournament for an SSS title plus INR 30,000 in cash. The tournament had reached Level #32 by the time we arrived at the final hand, with the blinds running at 6,000/12,000 - 12,000 and here, Dilmeet shoved Kh As pre-flop only to get a call from 'Loki19', who held Ad Js. The board ran out 6c Jh Ts Qc 4s and Dilmeet struck a straight to complete this victory.
SSS Event #13 INR 130k GTD
For the second tournament, the buy-in was slightly increased to INR 550 and 159 entries joined the field to ever-so-slightly pass the guarantee. As the field narrowed down, the top 21 players received money prizes of a minimum of INR 1,681. However, the winner of the tournament was Aman Bhadu aka 'sparta420', recently coming off a Main Event victory in MOP's Indian Bounty Championship. He won INR 32,380 here.
SSS Event #14 INR 150k GTD
This was the first freezeout tournament of the day and the buy-in to this event was set at INR 1,100. The field rose to 137 entries and from them, the top 20 were paid out a min-cash of INR 2,010. No surprises that the winner of this tournament was Arjanveer Chadha aka 'instrumental' and we've lost count of the number of titles this guy has won on The Spartan Poker in recent months. Here, he beat Mani Singh aka 'KOQ' to win the top prize of INR 36,000. Gutshot caught up with the runner up Singh and he said, "I was left with some 8 or 9 BBs and from there I finished 2nd against a good friend, Arjan Chadha. Overall, it was good experience. Looking forward to IOPC 2019."
SSS Event #15 HR Texas INR 50 Lakh GTD
This event had a whopping buy-in of INR 27,500 and it did very well to attract a field of 200 entries. From this field, the top 21 players were paid out with a min-cash of INR 62,500, but the biggest prizes were reserved for the top few. Shipping it eventually was 'JasonBourne' and this guy preferred to stay anonymous. He took home a gigantic amount of INR 12,00,000 and he won't be forgetting last night for a very long time to come. In heads-up, he beat 'Harambe' who cashed in 2nd for INR 8,12,500.
SSS Event #16 INR 5 Lakh GTD
With a buy-in of INR 5,500, this tournament was of the progressive knockout format, with quite a few Spartan regulars among the field of 181 entries. Eventually, the top 24 places were paid out a min-cash of INR 5,000 but the biggest beneficiary of the night turned out to be 'potlords' who has been having a good series so far. He was awarded INR 1,15,000 for this victory, after having outlasted the entire field and Pranav Bang aka 'CalvinKlein' in heads-up.
