SSS Day 7: Shashank Desai wins ME; Raghav Bansal wins SuperStack
The Spartan Super Series (SSS) on Spartan Poker concluded after hosting its week-long extravaganza. This high-stakes series guaranteed massive prizes, luring multiple players and crowning various titles. Yesterday saw the 7th day of SSS series with another 6 tournaments lined up to complete 44 tournaments of the series. Following is a complete summary…
SSS Event #39 INR 1.2 Lakhs GTD
The first tournament of the final day of SSS on Spartan Poker kicked off on a moderate note. The event saw a buy-in of INR 330 and considering it was a Sunday, the participation was brilliant with 471 entries joining and the new prize pool was shared among the top 31 places, each receiving a minimum of INR 1,243. Taking down the tournament was Moji Padu aka ‘Zaalimp’ who won the top prize. In heads-up, the player beats 'Djbravo’ who bagged the runner-up position. Zaalimp entered the final hand with larger stack but eventually lost to Padu who showed two pairs, QQ77.
SSS Event #40 Afternoon Showdown INR 3.5 Lakhs
The Afternoon Showdown is reserved as the second tournament on each day. This time a total of 221 players entered the tournament for a buy-in of INR 2,200. A new prize pool was drawn and only the top 15 players were paid. The winner turned out to be Yash Katira aka 'ykbhuj' and he shipped the event, defeating ‘[email protected]’ with three of kind, 666 in the final hand.
SSS Event #41 INR 2 Lakhs GTD
INR 660 was the buy-in set for this tournament where 367 entries eventually participated. From them, only the top 31 players received a paycheck in the event. ‘The Sitting Duck’ rode his way to the top of the field and bagged a decent bankroll addition after he beat 'TonySoprano' in heads-up. This player had to be content with the runner-up prize. The Sitting Duck won with a pair of 55.
SSS Event #42 Main Event INR 75 Lakhs GTD
With buy-in at INR 11,000 attracted 747 players in total (190 re-entries, 237 rebuys) to the Main Event ensuring massive prize money. The prize pool was shared among the top 71 players. Shashank Desai under the name ‘Jai Bajarangbali’ won the tournament for the biggets payout of the series. Desai is a frequent face in Spartan’s online tournaments and has multiple titles attached to his name in this SSS series itself. He defeated ‘Durrrlethodabhagwanse’ who ended up in the second position. While Desai raised in the pre-flop with 6s Qs in the final hand, his opponent folded and the two struck a deal to end the tournament on Spartan Poker.
SSS Event #43 Sunday SuperStack INR 30 Lakhs GTD
Another grand event after the ME was Sunday SuperStack to be played every Sunday on Spartan Poker, this is the biggest and most popular featured tournament on the platform, with a buy-in of INR 5,500. A field of 620 entries (122 re-entries, 189 rebuys) means the guarantee was surpassed and the top 63 places took home pay-outs. Raghav Bansal aka ‘thatssosick’ was the player who emerged victorious, taking down the title, adding a massive sum to his poker bankroll. In heads-up, he beat 'propernit' who took away the runner-up prize in a tournament where two pair of AATT was what it took to win the final hand. Bansal is one of India’s topmost poker players with frequent appearances in Spartan Poker tournaments as well as in the live circuit.
SSS #44 Big Daddy INR 6 Lakhs GTD
This is another very popular tournament that Spartan decided to reserve for last in this series of SSS. Paying INR 1,650 each to enter the tournament, 390 entries (46 re-entries, 131 rebuys) joined the event. Eventually, the 31 top-ranked players were paid out. It was Devashish Mathur under the name ‘debumathur’ who emerged as the champion of the last tournament of SSS series, while the runner-up was Goonjan Mall aka ‘gmtesting’. Mathur won with three of a kind, AAA.
