Successful outing for two Daniels at WSOP 2019
The World Series of Poker (WSOP) is underway at Rio All Suites in Las Vegas and every day, we have another winner or two being announced. Recently, we had a couple of more tournaments coming to an end, being won by Daniel Strelitz and Daniel Park, both of who won their maiden WSOP gold bracelets.
Event #11: $5,000 NLHE
400+ players showed up to play in this $5k buy-in event and it was Daniel Strelitz who won the fiercely contested tournament to go with the first-place prize of $442,385. The USA player was up against countryman Shannon Shorr in heads-up, with the winner coming back from an initial deficit. The FT also had some top names including Ali Imsirovic, Maria Ho and others.
The excitement was evident when he took down the title. He said, "I’m feeling pretty good, I finally got it off my back. I came close a few times, so it was kinda disappointing, but it wasn’t like I was desperate for one. It wasn’t a void in my life or anything. It’s just a massive relief, I’m super happy.”

- Shannon Shorr - $273,416
- Ognjen Sekularac - $186,050

Park beat a field of 2,452 entries and held the lead through most of the final day.
However, there were a few ups and downs when he met some good players on the Final Table. Talking about this, he said, "It was a rough final table, I was playing really aggressive that ended up bringing me to one last chip, and from there I just had to play even more aggressive."
A few Indians were also in the mix in this Turbo tournament and those to cash included Kartik Ved who finished 110th for $1,598(~INR 1.1 Lakh), Siddharth Mundada who busted in 151st place for $1,423 (~INR 98,700), and Mayuk Ghosh and Vivek Rughani who hit the rail in 205th and 213th for $1,281 each.
