Sumit Sapra, Vishrant Goyal win May 2.o.K on Spartan
Once in a month, Spartan Poker hosts one of the most unique online poker tournaments called Two of a Kind (2.o.K). This tournament is usually scheduled for the first Sunday of every month and this time was no different, being contested yesterday. What's unique about this tournament? The top two players, not one, are crowned champions!
With a buy-in of INR 5,500 attached to the tournament, May's 2.o.K kicked off last evening at 6:00pm with a massive field of 936 entries joining the event. The beauty of this tournament is that there's no differentiation between first and second place and both are rewarded equally, even if there's a massive difference in chip counts in 2-way play.
INR 9,266 was the min-cash set for this event with the top 70 players ending in the money. However, some users only had their eyes on the mega prize. Last night, those players turned out to be the very popular Sumit Sapra aka '[email protected]' and the relatively lesser known Vishrant Goyal aka 'Clinical'. It surely was a clinical performance from Goyal last night!
The tournament ended at 3:14am this morning and before the winners were declared, some very good players were knocked out along the way. These included last night's Sunday Stacks winner Arjanveer Chadha aka 'bazzingaa' (15th), Rubin Labroo aka 'kornkid' (12th), Siddharth Karia aka 'schemer77' (11th), Deepak Bothra aka 'chimpoo' (8th), Goonjan Mall aka 'gmtesting' (7th), and Sahil Agarwal aka 'Nasheyy' (6th).
The last person to get the boot from the tournament was 'dev3088' and while he finished in 3rd and got a decent prize amount of INR 5,66,280 from Spartan Poker, it would've hurt him bad as he missed the major pay jump. While Goyal folded pre-flop, it was dev3088's pocket Fours up against Sapra's AK, with the latter spiking an Ace on the flop and putting an end to the game.
The tournament immediately halted and the players that remained scored massive cashes of INR 15 Lakh EACH! Both would've been very delighted last night. When Gutshot spoke to one of the winners, Goyal, he said, "It was a much-awaited moment for me, after missing to cash in tournament after tournament. The feeling is ecstatic and I'm on Cloud 9 after this victory. It still feels very unreal."
That 'unreal' feeling is what Spartan desires to give winner after winner, month after month. Until next month's edition of the 2.o.K., keep following GutshotMagazine.com for updates on all things poker.
