Taiwan’s Chi Hang ships J88Poker Tour Main Event

One of Asia’s poker tours, J88 Poker Tour (J88PT) was hosted for the first time in Taiwan and had great success. The 2019 tour’s highlight event the NTD 25k Main Event ran from 30th March till 3rd April 2019 yesterday.

NTD 25,000 Main Event

The event saw a record participation of 452 entries, each coughing up the buy-in to create a lucrative NTD 10,170,000 in total prize pool. The huge turnout more than doubled the guarantee. The final day of the event yesterday saw local pro Chi Hang shipping it for NTD 2,152,000 (~INR 48.21 Lakhs) and a seat into the 2019 WSOP ME.

Chi Hang played extremely well throughout the series. Before reaching yesterday’s final 9, entered Day 2 in the top 10 among 134 qualifiers and bagged chips at 2nd position in chip counts at the end of the day.

The last hand of the Main Event was dramatic. It was a Taiwan vs Korea battle as the runner-up Jin Ho Hong was from South Korea. Hong managed to win the hand with pocket Tens against Hong’s Queens. After both their chips went into the pot, the board revealed 9d 7h 2c 10c 6d giving Hang the set and the title.

NTD 88,000 High Roller

The High Roller event also got over yesterday. For a buy-in of NTD 88k, the tournament attracted 52 players and created NTD 4,035,200 in prize pool. Eemil Tuominen won this event for NTD 1,432,500 (~INR 32.12 Lakhs). Heads-up was played against Korea’s Kong Seung Su who also took a handsome cash of NTD 908k.

Tuominen, who hails from Finland, is the only player in the series to bag two titles. The first tournament he won was the PLO event for NTD 162,260 few days ago. Thailand’s Phachara Wongwichit was also in the mix and finished 4th. Hong Kong’s Alan King Lun Lau finished 5th.
