TIPS Season 2 returns to Rozvadov in March 2019
Are you a poker enthusiast? Or a professional who makes an earning from the game? Do you make regular trips to Goa, which is one of the few states in our country where live poker is legal? Care to know about one of the latest poker series, which is held internationally at the price of nothing but your usual Goa trip?
There's something known as The Indian Poker Series (TIPS) which was launched earlier this year, with the prime motive being to let Indian players play at international locations with extremely low buy-ins. Earlier this year, TIPS made its debut in Kings Casino, Rozvadov, scheduled between 15-20 August 2018.
The series was the brainchild of poker players Jaydeep Dawer and Manish Goenka, who decided to give birth to this idea during one of their trips to Rozvadov. They realized how so many Indian players don't visit such locations due to budgetary constraints. That's how TIPS came into being, with INR 1.5 Crore being given away in guaranteed prizes during that series.
The most enjoyable part of the series was the fact that the buy-ins were identical to those you would get at an IPC, BLT or DPT series in Goa, with the added benefit of getting to play with top European players. The series turned out to be a major success, and the Dawer/Goenka duo decided to host season 2 as well.
The Indian Poker Series (TIPS) Season 2
TIPS promised a bigger and better second edition and they have kept up to that promise, nearly doubling the guarantee of the first series, introducing an INR 2.5+ Crore GTD series in Rozvadov early next year. Not just that. The top two winners of the TIPS 2 Main Event will also win tickets to next year's WSOP Europe Main Event, worth €10,350 each.
The series has been scheduled between 6-11 March 2019 and we're expecting a much better turnout as compared to the one we witnessed in August this year. Gutshot caught up with Jaydeep Dawer and Manish Goenka, the men behind this unique series, and asked them more about the upcoming TIPS 2.
Dawer said, "It all started over a drink at the King's Casino during the Dutch Classic series, and here we are today looking at Season 2 of TIPS. It has been the single-handed efforts of my good friend Manish Goenka for where we are today. We both have one thing in common - our passion for the game. The main objective of TIPS is to provide a European poker experience to Indian Poker players at the costs of a series in Goa. We want the numbers of globe trotters from India to get into 3 digits from the current 25-35 that can regularly afford to travel for now."
Goenka also commented on the series, saying, "The TIPS Main Event is a whopping INR 1.8 Crore GTD for a mere buy-in of INR 26k. Apart from online, such value is never heard of in an Indian Live Series as of now. Apart from this, we have organized some crazy High Roller and medium-stakes PLO action which is live streamed on the RFID feature table at Kings. We are looking at having the best Indian poker action outside India, so the world can see the mettle, skill and the horizon of Indian poker."
There will be plenty of Indian poker players blocking their dates for this series in Europe's largest casino. For those who want an easier entry into the event, keep an eye out on websites like PokerBaazi, MadOverPoker and CallingStation, who have all lined up promotions to help you win packages to TIPS 2, Rozvadov.
