Tobias Peters wins WSOP Circuit Rotterdam
Tobias Peters has become the latest winner on the WSOP Circuit winning the Rotterdam Main Event. He is the successor of the Israeli Eyal Bensimhon, who claimed the title last year. Peters was by far the most accomplished player at the final table and thus the favorite to take down the title and he did so in style. Peters won €67,766 and a WSOP Circuit gold ring for his victory in the €3,500 Main Event of the 2018 WSOP International Circuit Holland Casino Rotterdam.
It took the Dutch poker pro just about 4 hours to claim victory including outlasting the 181 player field including headsup opponent Bart Beenan. Beenen would have to settle for the €41,861 runner-up prize and Stephane Cordeille took third place, scoring a payday of €30,226.
Peters was ahead of his competition at the table starting the day off as second chipleader. Shortly into the start of the final table, he managed to take over the chip lead, "My plan was to wait until the two short stacks were eliminated and start to apply pressure at the final four players. I did exactly that and it worked out great" said Peters after his tournament win to PokerNews.
Peters has been on top of the GPI rankings for a while now as the Number 1 Dutch player. However in the recently concluded EPT Barcelona, fellow countryman Joris Ruijs had a stellar run taking him to the top of the GPI Dutch rankings, "Joris had an amazing run in Barcelona. I hope this victory is enough to claim back my top spot. After this, I'm going to Cyprus, Morocco and the Czech Republic, so if I'm behind there are plenty of opportunities to take the number one spot again".
