The 55k WPT India Main Event kicked off a couple of nights back at the luxurious Deltin Royale poker room in Goa. Three starting flights have been scheduled and all have come to an end, with Day 1B and 1C scheduled yesterday. The first flight attracted a field of 227 entries and BJ Rana ended with the lead among 64 survivors.

Day 1B was another success in the Main Event and 256 entries joined the tournament, with 82 of them managing to get a bag to Day 2. This took the total field to 483 entries and 146 of them progressing to Day 2. The man in the lead after Day 1B is Ujjwal Narwal who takes a stack of 347,500 chips forward.

It was a WSOP bracelet party on the tournament floor as all of Aditya Sushant, Nikita Luther and Abhinav Iyer were in attendance. Iyer unfortunately busted out during the day while Sushant progressed with 89,000 and Luther progressed with 124,000 chips, the latter just returning from EPT Sochi in Russia. US pro Robert Mizrachi progressed with a stack of 148,000. The defending champion Nikunj Jhunjhunwala has also gone through with 199,500.

As for the chip leader, Narwal is a known entity who has plenty of online titles to his name over the last year or more. As for his live exploits, he just has one cash in WPT India last year and another in DPT earlier this year. He will be looking for a career-best cash in this 55k Main Event in Goa.
