Vaibhav Sharma wins The Elite on Spartan
We're reaching the weekend and the guaranteed prize pools are as high as ever on The Spartan Poker. This leading poker company hosts featured online tournaments every day and yesterday, The Elite was the tournament everyone was watching out for, with a buy-in of INR 11,000 and a prize pool of INR 15 lakh.
However, the prize pool was increased to nearly INR 18 lakh, with the participation going past what was expected - 179 entries. The top 17 players were paid out prizes worth a minimum of INR 28,103 and at the end of the tournament, a deal was struck in heads-up to decide a winner.
Vaibhav Sharma aka 'alienrobot' eventually took down the title, taking home a handsome prize of INR 3,79,904 for first place. He was up against 'fake news' in heads-up and the two were almost equal in chips, so he also took away a decent prize of INR 3,74,759 for second place. The tournament began at 7:30pm IST last evening and was done over 7 hours later, in Level #41, where the blinds were running 14,000/28,000 - 3,500.
Gutshot caught up with the winner, Vaibhav Sharma, after this big win and asked him about his introduction to the game of poker. He said, "I started playing poker by chance, and it has become my destiny now. I believe I started playing real money poker around 5 years back."
“It was a great experience, I fired 5-6 bullets, so I had to win/chop it. I don't remember any specific major hands, but we did hold/hit whenever needed, so great run overall," he continued, speaking about the experience of winning The Elite on The Spartan Poker. On a parting note, he said about his future poker plans, "I'm just going to keep playing poker as I love the game and it's my bread, butter and beer."
Phanindra Akkina aka 'k9akkin' finished 3rd, after having shipped the Destiny tournament just a couple of nights back. Keep reading GutshotMagazine.com for similar poker tournament results from India and around the world.
