Vikaash Shah finishes 8th in WPT Philippines Main Event!

One of the most prestigious poker brands, the World Poker Tour (WPT) recently made a stop in Philippines which is now nearing its end. The 12-day long tournament series in Okada Manila was scattered with a total of 21 events. And the major attraction PHP 75,000 Main Event, comprising of two starting flights that has now reached the final table.

Day 1A of the event attracted a total of 126 entries out of which only 24 survived. The next flight saw another set of 218 entries, creating a total of 344 entries with only a small chunk of 79 hopefuls advancing to Day 2. This number generated a final prize pool of PHP 22,523,400 and the top 43 places were assured a payout. It was Zheko Dinev from Day 1B to amass the 387,000 chips and become the overall chip leader.

All survivors from the two starting flights took their seats on Day 2 that formed the final 9 players progressing to battle it out on Day 3. It was Australia’s Vlahos Christos accumulating the largest stack of 2.1 million followed by David Erquiaga bagging 1.44 million chips and Filipino Del Rosario Rogel with 1.38 million chips.

Today at 1pm local time, the showdown began. The first casualty was Jongjun Park who failed to dominate Rosario’s pocket Jacks and left the table earning PHP 481k. Following his club was the sole Indian contender Vikaash Shah who entered the day a stack of 595,000 (picture below) and was eliminated by Dimitar Blazhev’s Ad Ah, earning PHP 613,000 (~INR 8.65 Lakhs). Ryo Naito exited in the 7th position and now the table is left with 5 final players with Rosario in the lead.

  3. Dimitar Blazhev - 1,880,000
  4. Mark Dela Cruz - 1,815,000
  5. Kunwoo Kim - 1,250,000
