Vinod Megalmani leads 5 Indians into Day 2 of Event #34
So far, so good for Team India at the 2019 World Series of Poker, where our players have regularly been making deep runs and taking away handsome prizes. Another tournament to kick-off recently was Event #34: $1,000 Double Stack No-Limit Hold'em and at the end of Day 1A, 5 Indians have managed to get a bag and progress to Day 2.
A total of 2,944 players registered to the tournament and from them, 1,100 progressed and Vinod Megalmani leads the Indian charge, with a stack of 304,300 chips at the end of Day 1A. Not only does he have the largest Indian stack at the event, but he is also among the top 20 stacks overall.
The other Indians to progress from the first starting flight were Dhaval Mudgal (171,100), Raghav Bansal (149,300), Paawan Bansal (68,000), and Ashish Ahuja (50,700). Most of them are below the average stack but all are highly accomplished players and can very well chip up on Day 2 on 16th June.
Argentine player Juan M. Esirviez bagged the chip lead with a massive stack of 530k, followed by Sunny Chattha who has 478k. A number of worldwide poker pros were in the mix including Ari Engel who is among the top 10 stacks. Former WSOP ME winner Joe Cada and 3-time bracelet winners Loren Klein and Ben Yu are some other known players in the field.
Day 1A top 10 chip counts:
- Juan M. Esirviez - 530,000
