'Viserion' ships SSS Event #32 on Spartan
The festivities on The Spartan Poker were all set to come to an end yesterday, being the final day of the popular Spartan Super Series (SSS), where a series guarantee of INR 3.7+ crore was up for grabs. The final day began slightly earlier than the usual start time, with quite a few tournaments to be played as part of the Sunday grind.
The first tournament of SSS Day 7 kicked off at noon - SSS Event #32 INR 2.5 Lakh GTD (550 RE). A total of 458 entries were recorded in the tournament, and the top 36 players finished in the money with a minimum cash prize of INR 1,625. It was quite an impressive field for such an early start.
After a few hours of grinding, a winner was declared in 'Viserion', who Gutshot contacted after this victory, but the player wished to stay anonymous. He topped this field and was rewarded with the first-place prize of INR 50,000, beating 'samy7867' in heads-up, who settled for the runners-up prize of INR 35,000.
Viserion had a lead of over 3:1 before the final hand was played in Level #52, with the blinds running 17,500/35,000 - 3,500. In this hand, samy7867 raised all-in pre-flop, after being dealt 9h Qh. Viserion had a pretty strong hand of Ac Qd himself, so he decided to make the call.
Both players couldn’t improve on their hands as they revealed their cards in the showdown and the board opened 4c Tc 8h Th Kc, with both striking a pair of Tens on the turn. When the final card opened, both players still had a pair of Tens and Viserion was declared the winner with a higher kicker, Ace.
It was a good start to the day, which later saw big wins like Dhawal Lachhwani winning the Main Event and popular player Sahil Agarwal shipping the Big Daddy tournament. Keep reading GutshotMagazine.com for similar reports on the top poker tournaments from around the world.
