World Poker Tour to Kick Off Season XIX With WPT Cambodia
After the deadly outbreak of coronavirus and its disastrous impact in the gaming and casino industry that led to the forced shutdown of casinos in Macau and postponement of APL Da Nang and Triton Jeju SHR, the World Poker Tour (WPT) came out with a piece of great news for the poker players of the Asia-Pacific region!
WPT announced on 24 February, the premiere WPT Main Tour event to be held at NagaWorld Integrated Resort in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, slated to run between 15 to 28 July. The festival will open Season XIX of the WPT and will be the first Main Tour event to be held in the Asia-Pacific region since Season XII.
The 2020 WPT Cambodia will be packed with 26 events spread throughout a period of 14 days with buy-ins ranging between $200 to $15,000. The poker enthusiasts can pounce on the field of the opening tournament the NagaWorld Billions Event followed by other side events including $1,100 WPT Cambodia Mini Main Event, the $10,000 High Roller Championship. Also, on the schedule is the $15,000 WPT Cambodia Short Deck HR Championship.
Undoubtedly, players will be looking forward to the $3,500 buy-in Main Event that is scheduled to run from 21 to 25 July where the ultimate champion will receive an entry in the WPT Tournament of Champions worth $15,000 that will take place in Las Vegas at the end of Season XIX. The runner-up and the third-place finisher will collect a $3,500 entry into the WPT NagaWorld Asia Pacific Championship Main Event to be held in May 2021.
According to WPT’s press release from yesterday, "Players can look forward to a full season of events at NagaWorld Integrated Resort across the WPT calendar. It was November 2019, that the biggest-ever live poker tournament in Cambodia crowned the USA's Brian Tougias who outlasted a record-breaking field of 750 entries in the WPT Cambodia Main Event that generated the largest-ever prize pool in Cambodian poker history.
Adam Pliska, CEO of the WPT said, "The WPT continues to expand globally and we are delighted to break new ground in the Asia-Pacific region to open our 19th season this July with WPT Cambodia.
