In the early hours of Thursday morning, 30 people were arrested by Goa police for rioting and holding staff and guests hostage in a plush hotel in Goa. As per reports, it was around 3:30am this morning when the Casino Pride Group made a complaint to the local police regarding the trouble happening at its property Casino Palms within the La Calypso Hotel in Calangute, Goa.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (Porvorim) Edwin Colaco confirmed the incident which happened at the casino which is very close to Calangute beach. It’s said that there were more than 300 people present in the casino when this incident took place. The police rushed to the venue and around 30 people were arrested on charges of rioting and holding people hostage.
Businessman Kaushal Khanna was among the many to be arrested by Goa Police, while the search is on for the remaining miscreants. Apparently, a group of around 40 men entered the casino in the early hours of Thursday and threatened the staff and guests present there. While the reason for the clash in unclear, it is said that it could be a dispute over some winnings at the casino.
“We have filed a case of rioting for now. Action is being taken as per law,” said officer Edwin Colaco to local reporters. Those arrested are currently being questioned and some of them included bouncers working for a security agency. Hotel staff who were assaulted are also being questioned regarding the same.
