6 Indians progress in TIPS 2 Main Event Day 1A

The Indian Poker Series (TIPS), a creation of Jaydeep Dawer and Manish Goenka is currently taking place for the second time at the Kings Casino, Rozvadov, Czech Republic. The series will run between 6-11 March 2019 at the venue and the Welcome Event is already in the books, won by Romania’s Ciprian Paunescu. India’s Himanshu Dewan also ran deep and finished 3rd in the same event.

Coming to the gem of the series, the €330 Main Event saw Day 1A in the books yesterday. The field of the first starting flight amounted to 179 entries (including 38 re-entries). Around half of the field consisted of Israeli nationals, as was the case in the last major series that was held in Rozvadov, the 2018 WSOP Europe.

The first three chip leaders in the Main Event Day 1A are all Israelis, with the chip leader being Afif Khuri who bagged up 656k chips in all. He sits above Shahaf Hadaya and Liraz Weiman who have 518k and 511k chips respectively.

Our Indian contingent is also doing good in the series so far. A total of 6 Indians qualified for Day 2 from yesterday. Leading the Indian wolfpack in terms of chip counts is Bengaluru’s Satyam Surendra with 212k chips. Trailing behind Surendra among Indians and 23rd overall is Gurgaon’s Gourav Verma with 150k chips.

Rahul Kumar, another Bengaluru native is at 32nd in overall chip counts and behind him are Bathinda’s Pulkit Goyal (pictured below) at 33rd (118k chips) and Mumbai’s Neeraj Jumani at 34th (117k chips). Goyal is a well-accomplished Indian regular who has won a lot of tournaments and attractive prizes like Jeep Compass (for topping Spartan Super Series leaderboard) online.

Kumar also has a significant record and has titles like Spartan DestinyCool Leaderboard and Adda52 Grand FT Vegas package to his name.
