Abhishek Goindi finishes 2nd in WPT Barcelona PLO

While most of the Indian pros are busy at Pro Poker Club playing the 2019 WPT Vietnam, India’s Abhishek Goindi decided to drift from the mainstream and go to Barcelona for another WPT event, the 2019 WPT Barcelona. The series went into the books yesterday. One of the last events to conclude was the €1,100 PLO Event.

The tournament had a guarantee of €100,000 (~INR 78.28 Lakhs). The event saw 3 Indians in the field including Goindi, Jagdeep Singh and Gaurav Gala. What’s impressive is that all 3 of them reached the Final Table. The FT of 9 was played yesterday and busting first among Indians was Gala, who got railed at 8^th place.

Next to fall was Singh immediately after Gala at 7^th place. Goindi on the other hand persevered and after showcasing some excellent poker, he finished at a respectable 2^nd position and took home a handsome runner-up cash prize of €25,000 (~INR 19.57 Lakhs).

Goindi is a phenom when it comes to live poker. He has been cashing in live tournaments since 2010, starting with India Poker Championship (IPC). He gradually worked his way to the top and recently shipped the DPT High Roller for INR 14.5 Lakhs, which is still not his best live cash. He finished runner-up in 2012 Macau Poker Cup Red Dragon Event for a staggering $136,245 which is his best live cash till date. Goindi even won an INR 3 Lakhs Las Vegas Package via PokerDangal and is hoping to create some headlines in sin city too, for the upcoming 50^th WSOP.

Singh too cashed out respectably at 7^th place for €5,800 (~INR 4.54 Lakhs). He recently finished runner-up in TIPS 2.0 Highroller event for ~INR 11 Lakhs. Captaining Haryana Hawks team which won the Match IPL 2 in April 2018., Singh is a strong live player and backs himself especially when it comes to the PLO format.
