Ankit Kapoor continues good run; wins TIPS PLO Event

They were calling him ‘Krusher Kapoor’ at the recent Deltin Poker Tournament (DPT) in Goa in February 2019, where he took down the Main Event after maintaining the chip lead right through the Final Table and executing many eliminations as well. We are talking about Ankit Kapoor, who is now in Rozvadov for The Indian Poker Series (TIPS) and he has hogged the limelight there as well.

KENTA Turbo Omaha was played yesterday at the Kings Casino in Rozvadov, Czech Republic, and the single-day tournament had a buy-in of €115. The idea of this series is low buy-ins which allow Indian players the chance to play abroad without burning their pockets, and this particular tournament attracted a total of 107 entries, from which the top 11 were paid out €254 and the 12th place was played €100.

The Israeli dominance continued at the series, with quite a few players from Israel finishing in the money, but Team India decided they wanted to take home the top prizes from this tournament. The most determined from among them was Ankit Kapoor, who shipped the tournament after a heads-up deal with countryman Rahul Kumar.

As per the deal, Kapoor had to take home a slightly smaller amount than what was originally calculated for first-place. He was awarded the pay-check of €2,746 (~INR 2.16 Lakh) for winning the tournament, while Kumar also received a decent pay-out of €1,937 (~INR 1.52 Lakh) for finishing second. Another Indian to finish in the money was Vineet Kumar, busting in 4th for €1,001 (~INR 78k).

There’s quite a large Indian contingent at the TIPS Season 2 in Rozvadov and plenty of them are also in the mix at the TIPS Main Event, which has a total of 6 starting flights, that are running simultaneously with these side events.
