APL Da Nang: Sumit Sapra progresses to Day 3 of Main Event

The Asia Poker League (APL) is applauding for the major title winners in the 10-day long series at Risemount Premier Resort at De Nang in Vietnam. Besides the several side-event actions, the Main Event came with a jaw-dropping VND 8 billion GTD, currently underway and close enough to crown the ultimate champion before the year ends!

The glorious 4th event enticed 525 players, shattering the assured guarantee to build up a prize pool of VND 10 billion. Holding an overall chip lead was China’s Lin Jian who brought in 133 players on Day 2. After the end of 6 levels, the field plummeted to 33 hopefuls. Jian followed the heels of the eventual chip leader Dhao Minh Phu who topped the day amassing an impressive 7 figure stack of 1,123,000 by mid-day. The native player is now running to grab his career first live win after stepping onto the live circuit only in 2019 in APL Hanoi.

The money reached at the fall of Kang Feng Lien and from there the 33 players received a paycheck including two Indians Vikas Sahni in 36th position for VND 49,000,000 (~INR 1.49 Lakh) along with Manish Lakhotia at 53rd place for VND 41,500,000 (~INR 1.26 Lakh). However, the APL Ambassador Sumit Sapra was the sole Indian contender to progress to Day 3 of the Main Event after bagging 378,000 chips.

Day 2 top 10 chip counts

  1. DAO MINH PHU – 1,123,000
  2. LIN JIAN – 865,000
