APT Kickoff Vietnam Championships Event: Munsaf advances to Day 3


The Pro Poker Club in Ho Chi Minh is heavily scheduled with the jaw-dropping VND 6 billion Championships Event. While other side events are also on the list, this second featured tournament is about to commence Day 3 which will finally conclude with 8 players. Vietnam undoubtedly has become a hotbed for the poker fanatics always inking the calendar with some of the major series.

The Day 1B of the 2020 APT Vietnam Kickoff Championships Event captured the eyes of another 61 runners for a buy-in of VND 38,500,000 summing up 137 players so far. The second starting flight was topped by native pro Harry Duong who amassed the maximum stack of 231,600 which earned him good enough fourth rank to enter Day 2. Other notable players advancing from Day 1B include Korea’s Kim Dongkyu with 204,500 chips, David Erquiaga with 153,800 chips, India’s Sumit Sapra with 111,800 chips, Punnat Punsiri bagging 58,600 chips and so on.

With the registration being open on Day 2, a small chunk of 23 hopefuls took to their seats, now making a total of 160 entries in the entire tournament. The second flight was led by Day 1A chip leader Japan’s Seitaro Aso who accumulated a towering stack of 319,600 leading 71 players to battle it out! The session took hours to whittle down the field now with only 20 survivors leading to Day 3. It was Michal Polchlopek (picture above) amassing 800,000 chips followed by Singapore’s Alex Lee with 790,000 chips and Aso bagging 691,000 chips, rounding up the top 3 players.

Indian poker pros to miss out on Day 3 include Dhaval Mudgal and Sapra while Meherzad Munsaf (picture below) remains the only Indian contender to progress further bagging 389,000 chips. Only the top 16 are guaranteed money from the prize pool VND 5,820,00 which means 4 players will walk out empty-handed.

  2. Alex Lee – 790,000
  3. Seitaro Aso – 691,000
  4. Peng Yang – 668,000
  5. Terry Nguye – 575,000
  6. Nguyen Thanh Binh – 546,000
  7. David Erquiaga – 523,000
  8. Harry Duong – 513,000
  9. Sam Beesley – 426,000
  10. Meherzad Munsaf – 389,000
