APT Philippines 2019: Jinho Hong wins Monster Stack 1


This September so far has seen some of the most fantastic poker tournaments. Asia is all warmed-up with numerous poker players swinging from one destination to the other. Asian Poker Tour (APT) 2019 II is back in action again at Resorts World Manila New Grand Wing.

Great number of events have lined up as the day kicked off by awarding its first trophy in the Monster Stack 1 PHP 2 million GTD. The competition took place on Wednesday 11th September with a buy-in of 27,500. It recorded a total of 176 players which eventually surpassed the prize pool to PHP 4,268,000 (~INR 58 Lakhs), distributed among the top 30 players.

The first event saw the victory of Korean player, Jinho Hong claiming his first-ever win and an ambitious amount of PHP 735,400 (~INR 10. Lakhs). Hong is also recorded to finish 2nd in PHP 200,000 No Limit Short Deck High Roller Turbo, APPT Manila.

Nevertheless, the showdown was heated-up with the remaining 44 players trying their best. As the game progressed, the field gradually narrowed down to 3 remaining players. The final table saw some major players, namely WSOP bracelet winner Ji Young Kim finishing at 28th, Jiego Erquiaga finishing at 9th place and a few others. Hong didn’t take much time in heads-up as an ICM deal was discussed among the final top 3 players, including Richard Nakila and Yuta Izumi.

With the clash of India Poker Championship (IPC) tournament from 11th -15th September at Big Daddy Casino in Goa, the number of Indian population expected in APT Philippines 2019 II might be less.
