APT Philippines: Jaideep Sajwan progresses from DAY 1A of ME


The Asian Poker Tour (APT) is live in action all over again! With the region experiencing some of the greatest tournaments of the year. The APT Philippines 2019 II is not far behind. With a fantastic location, the PHP 10 million (~INR 1.37 Crore) GTD Main Event kicked-off yesterday at the Resorts World Manila’s new Grand Wing.

Day 1A of the Main Event registered a total of 148 entries with a buy-in of PHP 55,000 (~INR 75,690). Eventually, as the competition started heating-up, the field narrowed down to 62 remaining players and this field was topped by Korean chip leader Yonghyun Yoo bagging 152,600 chips.

The Main Event also saw few Indian participation and Jaideep Sajwan, the sole Indian contender progressed from Day 1A. He bagged 81,900 chips. Sajwan was witnessed last week in the WPT Vietnam kick-off event to finish the final table in 4th position.

APT 2019 Day 1A was surrounded by some of the significant poker players from around the world, namely 2019 APT I ME Champion Christopher Mateo, Siyoung Lee, APT Korea-Seoul 2019 ME champion Go Saito, APT Vietnam ME winner Tetsuya Tsuchikawa and so on.

Day 1A Top 10 chip counts:

  1. Yonghyun Yoo – 152,600
  2. Arvhin Malinab – 147,000
  3. Thomas Babington – 135,800
  4. Seina Asagiri – 126,200
  5. Alan Anibal Arbo Fernandez – 105,600
  6. Kosuke Tajima   – 104,000
  7. Tou Ta Wei – 103,500
  8. En Ching Wu – 102,600
  9. Jie Wu – 102,050
  10. Thoo Ming Ken – 98,000

Besides the important day, another side event not to be overlooked is the PHP 86,000 (~INR 1.18 Lakhs) High Roller Single Day 1 attracted a decent number of 50 players for a prize pool of PHP 3,880,000 (~INR 53 Lakhs). The top 9 players were guaranteed to receive a paycheck.

The only Indian at the table battling the heads-up was Akshay Nasa with Masato Yokosawa. Nasa held K9, Yokosawa A9 and the board had no hits for either player. Yokosawa shipped and pocketed PHP 1,178,900 (~INR 16.22) and Nasa managed PHP 786,000 (10 Lakhs), after a heads-up deal.
