APT Philippines: Xixiang Luo leads 8 at Championships Event

Asian Poker Tour (APT) doesn’t need much of an introduction, being one of the biggest live pokier brands in Asia. They are conducting a tournament series in Philippines as we speak and today is even the final day of this APT Philippines series, which began on 11th September.

The APT Championships Event kicked off a few days back and Day 3 was played yesterday, beginning with the final 40 survivors only. By the time the day ended, we had the final table of 8 players set, with China’s Xixiang Luo in the chip lead with 4.68 million in the bag. Behind him is Korea’s Seung Mook Jung who has half his stack of 2.3 million chips.

Among the final 40 at the star of the day was one Indian player in Jaideep Sajwan and he did well even though he was short stacked through most of the day. 27 places were paid and he managed to get past the money bubble, eventually busting in 13th place for a decent payout of PHP 277,000 (~USD 5,300) (~INR 3.78 Lakh).

Sajwan shoved with the rest of his stack of 220k with A6 and he got a call from Benigno Ledina who revealed pocket Tens. The board bricked and Sajwan ended a good run in 13th place. Four more busts later, the Tournament Director called it time for the day, and the players will return to play the final day today. They will all be playing for the top prize of PHP 4,594,800 (~USD 88,000).

APT has been doing well in recent times and if this growth continues, we may soon see huge prize pools in the Asian circuit too. The brand recently even announced an added 2 years of partnership with Resorts World Manila, where they have been successfully hosting poker events since 10 years now.

Final 8 chip counts:

  1. Xixiang Luo – 4,685,000
  2. Seung Mook Jung – 2,335,000
  3. Jehun Hong – 1,555,000
  4. Juyuk Park – 1,435,000
  5. Graeme Siow – 1,045,000
  6. Benigno Ledina – 975,000
  7. Alex Lee – 785,000
  8. Jeonggyu Cho – 440,000
