APT Taiwan: Jinho Hong leads Day 2 of Championships Event

Buzzing with action, the second featured tournament of Asian Poker Tour (APT) Taiwan is jammed with quite a few notable players running deep to grab the prestigious title along with the enormous prize money. Day 2 of the Championships Event had been grueling with each player battling their way to top the list.

At the Chinese Texas Hold’em Poker Association, the second flight attracted another set of 23 runners registering for a buy-in of TWD 49,500 in the final hour. This brought the total field to 144 entries slightly surpassing the guaranteed amount to TWD 6.28 million. The prize pool will be ultimately paid out to the top 15 remaining players. Day 2 was all about trimming the field to only 21 players bagging their chips to the showdown. Ultimately, Korea’s Jinho Hong amassed the largest stack of 632,000 chips followed by a native player, Eric Ting Yi Tsai with 590,000 chips.

The recent APT Taiwan Main Event runner-up, Hong is one of the most familiar faces in APT. With total live earnings of over $119k, he earned his career-best live cash of $43k for finishing 2nd in the J88Poker Tour Taiwan Main Event earlier this year.

Quite a few notable players were seen to progress to the final day, including Day 1A chip leader Huang Yi Qing with 551,000 chips, Day 1B chip leader Choy Wai Tak with 493,000, 2019 APT Philippines II Short Deck champion Kong Seong Su with 129,000 chips and so on.
