APT Vietnam Kickoff ME: 4 Indians progress to Day 2


Vietnam has got its own thrill, the Southern Asian country has become a hotbed for poker for a couple of years now, hosting some high-value tournament. Besides, Vietnam being relatively affordable never fails to attract a large number of Asian crowed. A major tournament series in the Eastern zone, the Asian Poker Tour (APT) Kickoff Vietnam 2020 is currently underway at the Pro Poker Club witnessing a 12-day long affair!

Three days into the tournament and the star-studded VND 20,00,000 Main Event is right here assuring VND 8 billion GTD! A 5-day long marathon observed a total of 328 registering in the starting three flights. Now, let’s rewind, Day 1A of the ME garnered 80 runners but the field quickly whittled down to 35 survivors. Bagging the largest chip stack was China’s Bin Zhang with 133,600 chips. The chip leader’s closest competitors were Japan’s Vu Dang amassing 115,700 chips and Malta’s Brandon Mifsud with 107,100 chips.

Registration was open throughout Day 1B which finally enrolled 67 entries and Hong Kong’s Kwok Luen Hei topped this field by building a stack of 128,800 leading with 31 survivors to Day 2 of the Main Event. Following the chip leader’s tail was China’s Xiao Yu Cheng with 117,500 chips.

Three days into the marathon saw Day 1C chip leader Sim Qi Ren building a towering stack of 213,300 after topping a field of 181 entries, also becoming the overall chip head to advance to Day 2 with 140 hopefuls. Also bagging up a hefty 149,600 chips was India’s Sumit Sapra!

The major attraction of the series dragged several Indian poker fanatics to the destination including Sumit Sapra, second in overall chip lead followed by poker pro Dhaval Mudgal bagging 117,300 chips, Meherzad Munsaf with 82,500 and Sahni Vikas with 74,700 chips.

  3. Bin Zhang – 133,600
  4. Kwok Luen Hei – 128,800
  5. Alex Lee – 124,200
  6. Tuan Pro – 121,500
  7. Nguyen Huu Coo Tri – 118,500
  8. Xiao Yu Cheng – 117,500
  9. Dhaval Mudgal – 117,300
  10. Vu Dang – 115,700
