Bryn Kenney to make appearance in Goa’s Emerald Poker Tour

Emerald Poker Tour (EPT) is back again!

After three successful runs in Colombo, the EPT is back again but this time, there are plenty of surprises. The cash game festival will be making its debut in India, this time at the Casino Pride 2 in Goa’s River Mandovi. Just because of the closer and cheaper location, we’re expecting a massive turnout as compared to the earlier three editions.

It was only recently that EPT partnered with PokerBaazi CEO Navkiran Singh to grow the brand in the live poker market. With PokerBaazi recently taking over the poker room in Pride 2 earlier this year, it was no surprise that the EPT has shifted to Goa.

EPT is the brainchild of husband and wife Gokul Krishna and Suni Sunder, both of whom are avid poker players. They then partnered with Vikram ‘Lungi’ Kumar (pictured below) and most recently, with Navkiran. For the upcoming cash fest which will take place between 25-29 September 2019, they have also roped in poker player Bhuvan Bansal as partner.

Bansal (pictured below) spoke about joining the EPT team saying, “A big thanks to Sunita Sunder, Gokul Krishna and Vikram Kumar. Emerald Poker Tour has already conducted 3 events, and all have been a wonderful experience at Bellagio, Colombo. I’m glad to now be a part of the brand and my focus will b to make mid-stakes games more attractive and joyful for all players. We promise to give mid-stakes players a fun-filled series and experience which only high-stakes players enjoy…”

Sunita Sunder (pictured below) also commented on the upcoming EPT festival in Goa, saying, “EPT is going to focus on mid-stakes cash games. Within the next 18 months, our focus is on becoming the number one cash game festival in all of Asia. With the kind of response we are getting in every event, I am sure we are well and truly on our way to achieving that sooner rather than later. We also plan to have a low to mid stakes open for all events very soon…”

Another major surprise for this upcoming festival is that of American pro Bryn Kenney (pictured below) making an appearance at Casino Pride 2. The high-stakes player recently won a massive $20+ million prize for finishing second after a deal at the Triton Poker London Million for Charity tournament. That victory took him straight to the top of the all-time live poker list, with $55+ million in live poker earnings!

A player of such high calibre coming to India becomes a massive boost to the fledgling poker industry in the country. It wasn’t too long ago that Dan Bilzerian made an appearance at the India Poker Championship at the Big Daddy Casino in Goa. Prior to that, Finnish pro Patrik Antonius was invited by the Deltin Group to be a part of their anniversary celebrations at the Deltin Royale.

Commenting on this pro player coming to Goa, Vikram ‘Lungi’ Kumar said, “To have a player of Bryn Kenney’s stature visiting EPT is a dream come true moment. I’m hoping for a fun-filled weekend at the PokerBaazi LIVE poker room in Goa. Onion fritters with Bryn!” Kumar himself is a poker pro with around $100k in live cashes.

EPT co-founder Gokul Krishna (pictured below) also commented on this development, saying, “Bryn will be coming to Goa for a couple of days. We’re not sure what the dates are at the moment. EPT has come a long way since its first event a year back in Colombo. Numbers have been constantly increasing and people look forward to playing in it. Bhuvan Bansal has been an operator for a while now. We roped him into EPT because his vision as an operator matches EPTs vision and his active participation in organizing the event will make sure EPT lives up to its expectation even when handling a higher number of players. We want players to have access to the best cash games possible with top notch hospitality along with personalized attention to each and every player.”

“Bryn is a very close friend of Vikram. Interacting with someone like Bryn would be a dream come true for poker players. In our constant endeavour towards providing the players with the best, we thought it would be nice we ask Bryn to come for the event. I’m sure players are gonna have a lot of fun interacting with a legend like him. Time permitting, we are also planning to have a small get together for players with Bryn post event depending on schedules,” he added.

The management is expecting a far better turnout as compared to the 4-5 tables they were restricted to in Colombo. They’re expecting around 80 or more players to be a part of the action and for all major updates from EPT, you can stay tuned to GutshotMagazine.com.
