Chandan Arora takes down Sunday SuperStack on Spartan

Yesterday saw another successful online tournament on Spartan Poker, the Sunday SuperStack INR 25 Lakhs GTD. This is among many high-stakes online tournaments hosted on Spartan every week. This featured event tends to draw a lot of participants given that it’s a holiday for most of the country.

The late-night tournament attracted a massive number of 581 players, each entering for a buy-in of INR 5,500. Crushing the guaranteed amount to create a prize pool of INR 29 Lakhs to be shared among the top 55 places, each receiving a minimum amount of INR 14,234. The tournament was in the books by 5:04 am, topping the field was a well-known face, Chandan Arora, playing under the username ‘MeStrongYouFold’. He recently had a screen name change on Spartan.

In Level #49 with blinds at 60,000/120,000 ante 12,000, 3 players enter the final hand. Arora (Ad 4d) amassing 6.12 million chips followed by ‘ReMorse123’ (9h 8c) with 5 million chips, and ‘Vikram2627’ (Ah 8d) with 3.39 million chips. Arora unsure about his cards folds in pre-flop. Flop 4s Ts Qh, gets a check from ‘Vikram2627’, ‘ReMorse123’ bets 288k while the former folds immediately. Finally, the players settle for a deal with Arora carrying a larger stack wins the tournament and walks away with an enormous sum of prize money, adding another feather to his poker cap.

We spoke to Arora after his win. About the tournament, he said, “It was a gruelling session. At 5am, we made a 3-way deal because I was pretty tired. Thursday, I shipped Thunder and yesterday SuperStack. So, all in all a good warmup for Spartan Super Series.”
