A fantastic day of online poker came to an end on The Spartan Poker, with IOPC Event #37 INR 8 Lac GTD (2200 RE) beginning at 9:30pm IST and ending in the early hours of today morning. It was a great day as big tournaments took place as a part of the India Online Poker Championship, with Suhit Khanna winning The Flash and Ankur Aryan winning the Super HighRoller.
This was the last tournament of the day and the guarantee was beaten once again, like it did in every tournament on IOPC Day 7. The 501 registered entries created a new prize pool of INR 10,02,000 and the top 39 players shared this prize pool, with a minimum cash of INR 6,914.
Coming out on top of this big field was Charan Teja Kattumenu, an IIT Bombay graduate who is currently a Data Scientist, playing under the username ‘charan1001’. He bagged the top prize of INR 2,00,901 and beat popular poker pro Vidwath Shetty aka ‘RoronoA’ in heads-up, who already has two previous titles in this IOPC series. He received INR 1,33,567 for second place.
Gutshot caught up with Kattumenu after this big win. He also shipped an IOPC tournament last year and was very glad that he could repeat that achievement this year. “This series has a special place in my heart. All the top poker talents in the country participate in this event. So, winning an event here is a dream come true for me,” he said.
Commenting on the tournament, he said, “I had played the toughest final table in this tournament. All the players were really good, but I kept my calm and stuck to my strategy. I was able to adapt to other players’ strategies quickly and I think that made the difference. Overall, I am really happy for this win and would be looking to play more tournaments on The Spartan Poker.”
