It was the final day of the 2018 Poker King Cup that was scheduled between 20-25 September 2018 at the Venetian Macau. Scheduled to end on the final day was the HKD 16,500 Main Event and the HKD 200k Super High Roller, with the latter being shipped by Kui Song Wu for a career-best live cash.
Coming to the Main Event, this is the tournament that everyone had their eyes on. 518 entries were recorded to the tournament, of which 63 took away cash prizes. Yesterday, we reported Li Yu leading the chip counts after Day 3, heading the final table, but he unfortunately, couldn’t go on to ship the tournament.
Yu eventually finished 4th in the tournament and the player who went on to win it was Wei Ran Pu, who topped the all-Chinese final table to walk away with the biggest live cash of his poker career – HKD 1,464,000 (~INR 1.36 crore). He dominated them all having busted out 5 players from the final table and entering heads-up with a 3:1 chip lead.
“Of course, I’m very excited to win. This is my biggest ever win, which I think I’ll celebrate by spending the money on playing more poker tournaments,” he said after lifting the PKC Main Event winner’s trophy and posing for a photo and the presentation ceremony at the Venetian.
