Daniel Negreanu proposes to his long-time partner

Canadian poker pro and the number 2 on the worldwide all-time money list Daniel Negreanu is all set to get married to his long-time partner in crime, Amanda Leatherman. On New Year’s Eve, Negreanu got down on his knees and proposed Leatherman to marry him, and she said YES!

Negreanu was on top of the world with her reply and took to Instagram to express his excitement, posting with caption, “So this happened last night. I bought this woman a ring 10 years ago and the stars finally aligned to where I could it to her. I’ll keep her safe. She will keep me wild.”

Negreanu also posted a video of the proposal from his Facebook with the caption “She didn’t see it coming!” He later said, “In 13 years I have never seen her cry tears of joy like that, it was awesome. She knew I was going to ask, we’ve already talked wedding and kids, but she just didn’t know when.”

The details of the marriage such as the date and location haven’t been established as yet, but Negreanu hinted at a beach-themed wedding in the Spring season. The two began dating again recently, after having dated previously a long time ago.

“Since we last dated, I learned a lot of lessons in my life when it comes to relationships but I think the biggest thing is that if you don’t love someone exactly as they are, then you shouldn’t be with them based on the potential of who you think they could be. I love Amanda exactly as she is now and don’t expect or need her to change,” Negreanu said.

He also took to Twitter to post a picture of his fiancée’s hand, wearing the beautiful diamond ring that Negreanu had bought 10 years ago. He captioned the post saying “She said yes. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!” Check out the video Negreanu posted to Facebook:

Negreanu is a six-time World Series of Poker (WSOP) champion and Leatherman is a former Big Game host and current host of Facebook Watch’s Friday Night Poker, a popular poker TV show. They haven’t even been together for long but the term ‘poker power couple’ has already been coined for them.

2019 will probably see Negreanu’s poker life taking a back seat, now with added responsibilities to his name. A possible kid can also be expected. Negreanu said, “Amanda is super supportive and knows poker so that will help when I do actually play, but for sure, right now my priorities lie with her”
