Dario Sammartino leads Day 4 of WSOPE Main Event

King’s Casino is jam-packed with action in the last two weeks, players are holding onto their seats, sitting at the edge and looking forward to grabbing the prestigious gold bracelet in this mini-series called the World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE) at Rozvadov. No wonder, the action was fast-paced yesterday at the Event #14: €10,350 Main Event No-Limit Hold’em where Day 4 came to a standstill.

Sitting at 1st in Italy’s All-Time money list, the poker pro, Dario Sammartino carries total live earnings of over $14 million. With $9.5 million live earnings at the WSOP, Sammartino amassed the largest stack of 7,430,000 chips on Day 4. He started the day with second in chips closely following Day 3 chip leader Julien Martini who is still racing at 5th in chips.

Day 4 resumed with 42 players returning to the table, all with the same hope of retaining the top prize of €1,133,678. After six 90-minute levels, the field was whittled down to only 14 players at the end of the day. Sammartino took over the lead, taking down a huge pot eliminating Day 1A chip leader Alex Foxen (26th, €26,986) and Georgios Vrakas (25th, €26,986). The struggle is real for the Italian poker pro, reaching five WSOP final tables including the WSOP Main Event but only to finish as the runner-up for $6 million. Sammartino might take home his career first-ever bracelet in WSOPE.

At the end of the day, the chip leader expressed, “After making the final table of the WSOP Main Event, I now believe that everything is possible. The tournament is really long and there are a lot of good players left, but I will play my game and see what happens. I feel very calm”. Dario is followed by David “OBD” Baker with 7,305,000 chips and Anthony Zinno with 6,950,000 chips racing for their 3rd bracelet.

The other notable players leading onto Day 5 include Anh Do (4,175,000), Claas Segebrecht (3,920,000), Daniel Rezaei (3,675,000), Christian Rudolph (1,875,000), Alexandros Kolonias (1,835,000), Marek Blasko (1,635,000), Jakob Madsen (1,460,000), and Mykola Kostyrko (1,425,000).
