Deepak Singh wins Mega Freeze after 3-way deal

Spartan Poker’s Monday feature tournament is special since it’s played out in the Freezeout format, meaning anyone who busts must accept their fate and move on, there’s no re-entering the field again.

Yesterday’s Mega Freeze INR 6 Lakhs GTD attracted 117 entries, and since this was a FO, there were 117 unique players in contention too. The field of 117 whittled down to one winner after a long grind that lasted about 5 hours, from 7.30 pm to 12.25 am today.

The winner to emerge from the tournament and to grab the lion’s share out of the 3-way deal that happened was acclaimed circuit player Deepak Singh aka ‘peacelover17’. The deal happened between Singh, ‘Tiger10’ and ‘chaanakya’ with the second and third taking home INR 1,03,796 and INR 1,01,024 respectively.

The champion of the tournament Singh needs no introduction. He has bagged multiple titles previously online and has shown his prowess in this game of skill. In September last year, he bagged the Judwaa title on Adda52, then next month, he bagged the Go Goa on the same platform too.

On the live felts, he recently finished 4th in WPTDS India Main Event last November, having been the chip leader on the FT there. The WPTDS finish in the ME was his best live score till date of over INR 22 Lakhs. This significant online win yesterday will see him convert it into more winnings in no time, which is not even hard for him given his skill level.

We spoke to Singh after his win and he had this to say about it, “I shipped something after long. I had almost forgotten what winning feels like. I kept running deep but wasn’t able to ship tournaments. Fortunately, yesterday I got that much-awaited finish. This win will prove to be a confidence booster before the PokerBaazi ‘Game Changer’ which begins tomorrow!

Out of the INR 6 Lakhs prize pool, top 17 places were paid for a minimum cash of INR 9,420 and the paid places included some regulars and pros in the mix too. Finishing 8th place was Anant Purohit aka ‘Pro’ for INR 20,100. Gaurav Sood aka ‘mozzie17’ finished 13th for INR 10,800. Gokul Raj aka ‘Super Kings’, winner of recent IOPC SHR, finished 17th, just in the money, for the min-cash of INR 9,420.
