Devang Yadav loves the biggies; ships Elite on Spartan

It was only less than a month back that we spoke about a major tournament that took place on Spartan Poker during the most recent edition of the India Online Poker Championship (IOPC). We’re talking about the IOPC Make It Big INR 75 Lakh GTD and that massive tournament was taken down by Devang Yadav aka ‘equity_hunter’.

Just a few weeks later, Yadav is back in action on Spartan with another major victory. This time it was Elite INR 20 Lakh GTD, the company’s Friday night featured tournament which attracts only the best in the business due to its buy-in of INR 11,000. One common factor between the two wins is that Yadav had to deal with some pretty stiff competition along the way to victory in both cases.

Last night, he registered to Elite which began at 9pm on Spartan Poker and eventually, the tournament recorded a field of 347 entries which broke the guarantee and players had a new prize pool of INR 24.7 Lakh to win from. The top 20 were paid out with a min-cash of INR 33,098 which is triple the original investment. 

As the tournament progressed, winning pots became tougher as big names were in the mix. Among those to finish early in the money were Ashish Munot (14th), Kartik Ved (12th), Jayjit Ray (8th), Parikshit Dhall (7th), Naren Purohit (6th), Sanat Mehrotra (4th), and others.

However, Devang Yadav’s name was written on the title last night as he completed the grind which ended at 4:05am this morning, striking a deal with Sriharsha D aka ‘GTOsucks’ in heads-up who is currently among one of India’s best poker pros. Yadav was awarded the top prize of INR 5,02,553 while Sriharsha had to settle for the runner-up prize of INR 4,92,856.
