DPT: Tiwari, Kanjani and Sharma tops stacks on Day 2


The feature tournament at the Deltin Poker Tournament series is of course the DPT Main Event which featured a buy-in of Rs.35,000 and promised a guarantee of INR 1 crore! Taking place over the course of 4 days, this Main Event will have 3 starting flights and then the survivors of these will merge to Sunday which will play down to the winner. 

Day 1A saw 80 players participating and from this only 27 survivors would move on to Sunday’s Day 2. Ankit Kapoor was the biggest stack at the end of the evening bagging 240,000 chips and he was followed closely behind by Shyam Jogi (207,200) and Uday Patel with 156,900 chips.

Day 1B of the Main Event drew in a higher number in 153 entries and from this particular starting flight 47 players survived to move onto Day 2. The final starting flight Day 1C drew in the biggest number of entries with 225 participants in the mix. By the end of late registrations on Day 1C, the DPT Main Event registered a total of 458 entries for this highlight tournament.

Once again nine levels of play took place in the Main Event and the end of Day 1B saw Rajeev Kanjani leading the counts with 278,000 chips followed by Nishant Sharma with 264,000 chips. Day 1C which drew the biggest number of participants, many of them who made a re-entry after busting out on the first two starting flights. Bangalore’s Santhosh Suvarna with 200,000 and local pro-Rajnish Kumar with 173,000 were among the top stacks who ended Day 1C. With their stacks, Kanjani and Sharma are also the overall top two stacks going into Sunday’s Day 2 action.
