Three days and three starting flights are done at the 2019 WPT Vietnam Main Event, being World Poker Tour’s second stop at Vietnam this year. It has been a great outing for Indian players so far like it usually is in this country and we’re here to report 4 more of our Indian players progressing from Day 1C of the Main Event, which was also the final starting flight of the tournament. Day 1B had 14 Indians progressing.
Local boy Huynh Tan Dung has over $60k in live cashes and he looks set to increase that tally as he ends Day 1C of the event as chip leader. A total of 130 entries registered to the flight and by the end of the specified levels of play, only 62 of them bagged and moved on to Day 2.
Combined with Days 1A and 1B, we have 156 players remaining in the tournament, from the original field of 344 entries. The guarantee was passes and the current prize pool of VND 16.6 billion is already the biggest one in Vietnamese poker, with registration still open until the end of Level 11 on Day 2 today.
Apart from the chip leader and quite a few other known faces in the field, we had 4 Indians progressing from the flight, with Manish Lakhotia ending as the top stack with 135,900, also among the top 10 stacks of the day. Others to make it through are Lakshpal Singh (87,300), Sumit Sapra (79,000), and Akash Chandrashekhar (29,900).
