Kanishka Samant wins Destiny 8.0 SNG, 10 Lakhs EU package

Destiny is one of Spartan Poker’s major offerings that sees a huge incentive being given to budding players and pros alike. The incentive is a paid trip to a foreign land to indluge in their love for poker. And this time, in Destiny 8th iteration, the prize was an INR 10 Lakhs Europe package.

Kanishka Samant is a well-known poker personality in the Indian community. The player started off the year on a good note, winning January’s Indian Online Poker Championship (IOPC) Elite to see a colossal pay-day of a little over INR 12.74 Lakhs.

Yesterday, playing under his usual moniker ‘Wildflower’, he played the Destiny 8.0 SNG Finale on Spartan as its 8th entrant, winning the tournament on 13th March. He played against the likes of India’s first bracelet winner Aditya Sushant aka ‘SuperuSer’, online regular Sagar Choudhury aka ‘lolMinions’ and others.

Eventually, Samant triumphed in the SNG yesterday and finally bagged the INR 10,00,000 Europe package. While he finished on top, Choudhury and Nitin Arora aka ‘0HUMAN0’ finished on 2nd and 3rd positions respectively. Destiny 8.0 was the last time Spartan offered an international package trip in the SNG.

Gutshot contacted Samant after his win and he was excited about his win. When asked about the competition in the SNG he said, “Except for [Aditya] Sushant and Sagar [Choudhury] I didn’t know any other names but have notes on most of them so it was extremely helpful in altering and pacing my game and playing style depending on each.

One notable hand which gave me the first double was when I had one card straight on the turn where my opponent had a set and all the money went in and the river didn’t pair, and I won the pot. Heads-up went on for the whole of 2019. It was a battle, especially with so many BBs,” said Samant after his win.

Samant concludingly said, “I am happy that I was on the top of my game and didn’t lapse at any moment. The Spartan experience is always great because of the software they use.” All the 10 finalists played tooth and nail yesterday for almost 4 and a half hours, ending on 11.58 pm but Samant denied them all the package eventually.
