Kunal Patni leads 66 players at BPT 100k High Roller

After a decent turnout in the 15k Kick-Off Event, the 100k High Roller began on the second day of the Baazi Poker Tour (BPT) which is making a comeback to Goa after 3 years. The series is taking place on board Casino Pride 2 and the defending champion of the HR is Shashank Desai, who also won the PPL High Roller which resumed a couple of nights back at the same venue.

The tournament kicked off at 5pm last evening and entries came in slowly early on because of the deep structure. Some of the known names to hit the tables early on were Adda52 Team Pro Kunal Patni, Abhishek Rathod, Sajal Gupta, Mukesh Surana, Meherzad Munsaf, Sajjan Barnwal, Rajat Sharma, and others.

Each player received a starting stack of 60,000 chips and 13 levels were scheduled on the day before the bags were brought out. A total of 150 entries joined the competition and by the time play halted for the day, only 66 remained, with Kunal Patni ending as the overnight chip leader. He takes forward a stack of 360,000 and is the only player to have a 300k+ stack currently.

Initially, the focus was on the FT of the Kickoff Event, which was eventually won by Abhijeet Shetty but later, everyone had their eyes on the bigger tournament, where much bigger prizes are expected to be announced today on Day 2. Late registration is on till the end of Level 15 today, so the prize pool is yet to be calculated.

Among the top 5 stacks are WSOP bracelet winner Abhinav Iyer, while Arsh Grover, Vivek Rughani, Eka Vedantham, Dhaval Mudgal, Raghav Bansal, Rajat Sharma, and others also progressed with big stacks. Sahil Chutani progressed with 15k chips and he’s the shortest overnight stack.
