Loeliger wins Poker Masters Online ME; Kolonias wins Purple Jacket


Both partypoker and Poker Central joined forces to bring Poker Masters Online Poker Championship that kicked off on 12 April and concluded yesterday. Sunday was the final day of the series on partypoker and the main attraction $51,000 Main Event was awarded Linus Loeliger and Greek pro Alexandros Kolonias who won the final event of the 30-event High Roller series to top the leaderboard and claim the coveted Purple Jacket along with $50,000 cash prize.

The Poker Masters Online Main Event pulled out a total of 77 entries to create a prize pool of $3.85 million. The top 10 finishers earned a payout with Switzerland’s Linus Loeliger capturing the largest chunk to add $1.09 million to his poker bankroll after defeating Guiseppe Ladisernia in heads-up. The champion sits second in Switzerland’s all time money list with a over $1.84 million in live winnings. He also secured 658 points in the leaderboard.

3. Christopher Kruk – $519,750
4. Steve O’Dwyer – $346,500
5. Ole Schemion – $269,500

8. Kahle Burns – $163,625
9. Conor Beresford – $154,000

Surely, all eyes were on the Purple Jacket and Alexandros Kolonias was 4th in the overall standings. He reached the FT in the final event of the series Event #30: $500K GTD which pulled out 146 entries. Ultimately, Kolonias defeated Jason McConnon in heads-up and took down the tournament for $367k in prize money. He also conquered the leaderboard and $50k championship prize money.

Kolonias had 11 cashes in the series with two victories and one second place finish and 2 events where he finished in the third place. This finally led him to accumulate 1,191 points in the final championship standing. Thrilled by his win, the champion added, “I am very proud of this win because I think I played the best poker I have ever played and the competition was really tough. The Purple Jacket is an important title and it feels about the same as winning the WSOP Europe Main Event last year, but that time I had some tears when I won, I was more emotional.
