Mikita Badziakouski wins Triton Montenegro Main Event

The 2018 Triton Super High Roller Series was scheduled to take place between 12-18 May 2018, at the Maestral Resort & Casino in Montenegro, wherein a total of 4 tournaments would be played. Yesterday, Mikita Badziakouski was crowned champion of Event 3#: HKD 1 million buy-in NLHE Event, taking home the massive prize of HKD 19,618,400 (~$2,499,090) for first place.

Earlier, American poker pro Phil Ivey won the first event of the series, which was also the first ever live short-deck tournament. Ivey registered a live tournament victory after 3 long years, while Triton founder Richard Yong won the second event of the Triton SHR series, taking home HKD 3,046,000 for this effort.

Just two tournaments were left in the series – HKD 1 million NLHE and HKD 1 million short-deck ante only events. A total of 63 entries registered to the NLHE event, creating a huge prize pool of HKD 59,270,400 (~$7,550,129). Badziakouski, the top earning poker pro from Belarus, registered the best win of his live poker career, beating the $1,772,822 he earned for finishing 3rd in a WSOPE High Roller event last year and taking his career earnings past the $9 million mark.

Known as ‘fish2013’ online, Badziakouski began the final day third in the chip counts but he took the lead when it was down to just five players. Top high rollers like Steffen SontheimerSteve O’DwyerManig Loeser and Dietrich Fast were also a part of the final table, so the Belarusian would’ve been very happy with this victory. Interestingly, he was playing a record-breaking high-stakes cash game until 6 am the previous night.

Final results:

  1. Mikita Badziakouski – HKD 19,618,400 (~INR 16.98 crore)
  2. Rui Cao – HKD 13,217,000
