Minh Le leads final 29 in APL Vietnam ME

The Asia Poker League (APL) Road Series Vol.3 started its series at Ho Chi Minh City of Vietnam on Nov. 15. The main attraction of the festival is undoubtedly the VND 8 Billion GTD Main Event. The APL Vietnam festival will go on till Nov. 25 with the Main Event Final being on 24th. Yesterday saw Day 2 of the Main Event come to an end, with India’s Abhishek Paul, bagging his chips to see Day 3.

Out of a total 587 entries from all four starting flights of the Main Event, only 147 returned to the Pro Poker Club for Day 2. The chip leader emerging from Day 1D was Xuewei Li, with Amanpreet Singh leading second, and Abhishek Paul at fifth. Since the WPT India series saw its schedule conflict with this one, many Indian players were probably involved in the former and couldn’t make it to Vietnam.

The chip leader emerging from Day 2 is Vietnam’s very own Minh Le (pictured above), with his 1,439,000 stack. Only three players crossed the million-mark in chips. The only lady to make it to Day 2, Linh Ran Nguyen, also put up a tough fight against the field. She finished 39th place, driving her stack to the final five tables. The honour of bursting the bubble went to the chip leader, Minh Le, knocking out the German Johannes Felix Hoeld.

Amanpreet Singh

However, our homeboy Amanpreet Singh didn’t see much success in Day 2 and got eliminated, while Paul (pictured above) barely survived, ranking 21st in chip count, out of a total 29 players qualifying for Day 3. Paul had also triumphed in the Hyper Turbo 1 of this series earlier, bagging the title amongst 18 entrants and winning the top prize of ~INR 1.06 Lakhs. He is still holding the fort for India on Day 3 and we at Gutshot wish him all the luck in the world. May the Poker Gods be with you Paul!

Day 3 of Main Event will begin at 1pm local time and the last 29 players will be competing to secure a seat at the Final 8 table.  Total chips in play is 14,587,300 and action will kick off at Level 25 with blinds at 12K/24K ante 4K.
