Muskan Sethi cashes in Ladies Event; Tu Dao leads final 43

It’s the Ladies Week in Las Vegas at the moment because of so many women-specific poker tournaments being held at this point of time. At the 2019 World Series of Poker (WSOP) too, Event #47: $1,000/$10,000 Ladies No-Limit Hold’em Championship kicked off yesterday and we have recently arrived at the end of Day 2 of this tournament.

Due to an ‘incident’ in the past at the WSOP, there are multiple buy-ins to this tournament wherein women pay the usual buy-in of $1,000 but if any men want to be a part of the field, they would have to cough up a buy-in $10,000. A total of 968 entries registered to the tournament yesterday, beating last year’s participation of 696 entries by a fair distance.

261 ladies survived the day to continue on Day 2 today and among them was our very own PokerStars India Team Pro, Muskan Sethi. The player progressed with 127,100 chips and continued today, eventually busting in 52nd place for a pay-out of $2,824 (~INR 1.96 Lakh).

It hasn’t been the best of series for Sethi so far, being in Las Vegas since the start of the series but only recording her second cash of WSOP 2019. However, this run in the Ladies Event may give her some confidence which could see her doing better in the next couple of weeks in Las Vegas.

Day 2 recently came to an end and 43 ladies are still in contention for a WSOP gold bracelet and of course, the prize money of $167,308. At the end of day’s play, it’s Canadian poker player Tu Dao who leads the chip counts with a massive stack of 968,000 chips. Jackie Glazier and Kathy Liebert are past bracelet winners who are also in the mix at the moment.

Day 2 top 10 chip counts:

  1. Tu Dao – 968,000
  2. Nancy Matson – 856,000
  3. Veronica Brill – 853,000
  4. Lexy Gavin – 830,000
  5. Vanessa Kade – 787,000
  6. Meikat Siu – 779,000
  7. Barbara Blechinger – 645,000
  8. Ana Marquez – 615,000
  9. Jill Pike – 568,000
  10. Jackie Glazier – 512,000
