Nikita Luther keeps lead after APT Vietnam Main Event Day 2

The last couple of days have been going as perfectly as possible for India’s WSOP bracelet girl, Nikita Luther. She was among 194 entries and a total of 24 Indians who progressed to Day 2 of the Asian Poker Tour (APT) Vietnam Main Event, after three days of starting flights.

She was not only the chip leader at the end of Day 1B, but she was also the overall chip leader across these starting flights, only to then improve her position and finish as the leader at the end of Day 2 as well. Now, just 85 entries remain in the Main Event, of which 83 will finish in the money.

Among these entries are six Indian players, with Luther in the lead with a stack of 954,000 chips and Vivek Rughani closely following her, with a stack of 737,000 – third in the overall lead. Other Indians still in contention include Kanishka Samant (396,000), Shashank Jain (353,000), Sajal Gupta (211,000) and Zarvan Tumboli (166,000).

All of our Indian contenders are decently stacked, and, in all likeliness, they will all finish in the money as the pay-outs will begin after the first two eliminations of the day. The late registration period ended early on Day 2 and eventually, 498 entries had registered to form a prize pool of VND 9,661,200,000 (~INR 3.08 crore).

Vivek Rughani

In between Luther and Rughani in the chip counts is Vietnam’s very own Tran Thai Ha, who busted India’s Amanpreet Singh towards the end of the day to boost his stack to 832k. In a little while from now, the players will take their seats at their respective tables to play down to the final table in the APT Main Event in Vietnam.

Top 5 chip counts on Day 2:

  1. Nikita Luther – 954,000
  2. Tran Thai Ha – 832,000
  3. Vivek Rughani – 737,000
  4. Duy Ho – 655,000
  5. Phua Tzai Wei – 649,000

These players will be battling for the top prize of VND 1,638,200,000 (~INR 52.28 lakh) while three side events will also be running simultaneously. Keep reading GutshotMagazine.com for a complete update from the Pro Poker Club in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam.
