Paul Hong leads APT Korea Main Event Final Table

The ongoing Asian Poker Tour’s (APT) latest stop is taking place in the Korean capital city of Seoul at Paradise Casino in the Grand Walkerhill. The featured APT Main Event which has a buy-in of KRW 1.1 million (~INR 67,000) ended Day 3 action yesterday and it’s New Zealand’s Paul Hong who has the biggest stack going into final table action slated for Saturday afternoon.    

It was a bit of a slow going to the starting flights with Day 1 getting only 42 entries with 23 of those advancing to Day 2. The UK’s Stephen Nathan ended up bagging the biggest stack at the end of Day 1A with 320,800 in chips.  Other notable players surviving the day were Kosei Ichinose, Jinwoo Kim, Andrew An, and current APT Player of the Series race leader, Stephane Blouin.

Main Event Day 1B roared in with 106 entries and after eight rounds of play, 62 players remained who moved on to Day 2. Ending the day with the largest stack bagged was Japan’s Ken Okada with 256,200. The eventual numbers for the Main Event topped out at 170 entries for a prize pool of KRW 164,900,000 (~INR 1 crore). The top 29 places will earn a share of this prizepool.

Day 2 of the Main Event had the USA’s Jinwoo Kim topping the 21 survivors with 767,000 in chips.Kim is a familiar quantity at the APT having finished runner-up at APT Korea Incheon 2017 Main Event. Yesterday, 21 players returned to the Main Event arena each one gunning for a seat to the Final 8. After a roller coaster day filled with ups and down and wins and defeats, the official final table was determined:-

Masaki Fujitani – Japan – 1,732,000
Jinwoo Kim – USA – 1,328,000
Hyun Kyu Bae – Canada – 738,000
Roman Shcherbakov – Russia – 652,000
Jason Sun – China – 636,000
Teruhisa Aoyama – Japan – 440,000
Okabe Shoei – Japan – 364,000

It is well worth noting that all of these players will be hunting down their first major APT title. The eventual winner will receive the KRW 36,337,000 (~INR 22.17 Lakhs) first place cash, the APT Main Event Trophy, a customized watch, and the exclusive APT Championship Ring.
