Paul Jain leads; three Indians cash in WSOP Event #9

There’s a slew of events taking place at the Rio All Suites Hotel in Las Vegas, were players from across the globe are participating in the World Series of Poker (WSOP). It’s a momentous occasion as the WSOP celebrates its 50th anniversary and Team India has made a good start so far, with a few cashes within a week since the start of the series.

Event #9: $600 NLHE Deepstack is one tournament which attracted a gigantic field of 6,151 entries, mostly due to its relatively lower buy-in. However, they’ve managed to narrow down to the final 9 players after two days of intense action at the tables. 7 of the final 9 are USA poker players, led by USA’s Paul Jain who has 41,700,000 chips which is nearly double the next best.

A number of bracelet winners like Daniel Negreanu, Phillip Hui, Justin Liberto, Ylon Schwartz, Aditya Sushant, Alexander Ziskin, Scott Davies, and Robert Peacock were a part of the field but busted along the way. Eventually, the tournament had to be extended by a day, with 923 players receiving pay-checks (min-cash: $874).

Our Indian players also participated in this tournament and those to cash were very popular names, those who have made headlines in Las Vegas in the past. Raghav Bansal finished 771st for a pay of $923 (~INR 64,000), bracelet winner Aditya Sushant finished 228th for $1,973 (~INR 1.37 Lakh) and Paawan Bansal claimed the highest pay-check among Indians, finishing 145th for $2,603 (~1.8 Lakh).
