Paulius Vaitiekunas leads Day 2 of WSOPE Main Event

The packed poker room at King’s Casino in Rozvadov, Czech Republic saw the previous 279 players returning to the battlefield in the most awaited Event #14 Main Event No-Limit Hold’em after concluding the starting flights at the World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE), now approaching its final few days.

A new record is set for the WSOP Europe when Day 2 attracted another 100 entries at the start which brought the total to 541 players. As the evening progressed, the field was narrowed down to the remaining 129 players leading to Day 3. Topping this field and amassing the largest stack was Paulius Vaitiekunas with 1,221,000 chips, closely followed by Ahmad Achegsei (1,213,000) and Daan Mulders (1,191,000).

The Lithuanian poker pro came close to a gold ring after he finished 5th in the WSOP Global Casino Championship. He is also recorded to have championed the 2019 WSOP Circuit Lucky 7s Event, Rozvadov in March. With time, Vaitiekunas has earned over $170k and is now looking forward to winning big this week too.

Day 2 saw fierce competition when the overall chip leader Alex Foxen fell short stacked but eventually managed to power through the evening and finished his day with 813,000 chips. Day 1B chip leader Kahle Burns faced a rough day, holding a top pair against a straight draw as his opponent hit straight on a river eliminating the 2-time bracelet winner.

A few other big names to make it through the day include Jan-Peter Jachtmann (851,000), Martin Kabrhel (793,000), Joao Vieira (715,000), Dario Sammartino (687,000), Anton Morgenstern (600,000), Jeff Madsen (404,000), Benjamin Pollak (350,000), and defending champion Jack Sinclair (272,000).
