It was just a couple of months back that Indian poker player Kanishk Upreti was in the spotlight for a major victory in Rozvadov, Czech Republic. The player chopped the HighRoller tournament with friend Tanveer Kohli in the inaugural The Indian Poker Series (TIPS) in the Kings Casino, Rozvadov.
The players struck a deal in heads-up to win €6,086 (~INR 4.9 lakh) each and now, Upreti has made another splash, this time in online poker. Yesterday, Upreti went on to ship the Baazi Super Sunday (BSS) INR 15 lakh GTD SuperStack tournament, which happens to be one of PokerBaazi’s biggest weekly tournament offerings.
India’s best players always wait to play this tournament each Sunday and yesterday was no different, with a field of 294 entries (164 players + 130 re-entries) joining the event. Eventually, the top 26 players were paid out a minimum cash of INR 18,750. Upreti however, took away a large cash prize of INR 3,03,750 for finishing first, playing under the name ‘gooner1317’.
Like we mentioned earlier, it was a field full of good players. Upreti beat Muthukumar Rajagopalan aka ‘hero1965’ in heads-up, who won INR 2,28,750 who finishing second. In third place was none other than Goonjan Mall aka ‘gmtesting’, who scored INR 1,72,500. Finishing 4th was Rajat Sharma aka ‘Lung Fakeer’, adding INR 1,27,500 to his poker bankroll. Lakshay Grover aka ‘BaazigarIV’, another regular on PokerBaazi, finished 5th for INR 97,500 while Neeraj Kumar aka ‘SelfClaimedPro’ finished 6th for INR 75,000.
