PokerStars launches Side Bet at Hold’em tables

Online poker platforms keep coming up with crisp ideas in order to fascinate their loyal user base. Recently, the Poker Industry PRO was the first site to report on the new feature by the online giant PokerStars giving their players the chance to Side bet on the upcoming cards to be dealt at the poker table. The new feature reveals a whole new excitement to hands while playing poker which will soon become an option for the online players.

The online poker room began testing this new feature at its Hold’em tables. Basically, these bets aren’t a way for players to win money from each other, instead, the side bets wagers on what a player’s next hole cards or cards that will appear on the flop. The money wagered comes from player’s funds that are on deposit with PokerStars, rather than the chips currently on the table and the money in the form of chips is strictly for poker play. They will have no effect in the tournament as the opponent cannot see their stacks increase or decrease as the result of side bets.

Side bets are commonly seen at the casino table games like blackjack. This introduction of the casino betting might prove to be popular especially for the casual crowd. An interesting addition to PokerStars new features, the company also added All-In Cash-Out which allows players to take cash payout for their hand. This means that once the player activates this option, incase accepted, the players will receive a payout to their equity’s value and 1% fee will be deducted. The payment comes from PokerStars instead of other players and if the player who has used All-In Cash-out wins, PokerStars will collect the pot.

However, PokerStars has not made any formal announcement about the addition but the members of the poker community have confirmed seeing it at the tables. The Indian client may not have this feature as Side bets will be available for select customers in the UK and EU versions of the PokerStars software.
